Scholarship Winners |
| At the conclusion of each school year, the Valley Central Teachers' Association provides scholarships to graduating seniors based on scholastic record, financial need, personality, and participation in extra-curricular activities. These scholarships include the Donald Brooks Memorial presented to a senior planning to enter the teaching field. Since 1985 the VCTA has awarded a total of $70,400 in scholarships to graduating seniors. The following is a list of scholarship recipients for each school calendar year, along with the monetary award received by each winner. The VCTA is proud of the important role that teachers and teacher unions play in promoting and safeguarding high academic and behavioral standards in public education. In celebration of our own efforts and dedication, and in recognition of the outstanding efforts and accomplishments of our talented students and their vigilant parents, we present the following scholarship recipients for your review.
The Valley Central Scholarship has now become a part of the Common Application process initiated by the High School Guidance Department. Therefore, the due date will coincide with the due date for other VCSD scholarships coordinated through the Guidance Office.
VCTA scholarships are open to any VCHS graduating senior, or a graduating high school senior whose parent is a VCTA member. Applicants must have an average of 85% or better. Scholarship awards will be divided between 4 - 6 recipients. One will be awarded to an applicant pursuing a career in education; one will be awarded to the child of a VCTA member; the remaining will be awarded to any applicants, regardless of career choice, based on their rubric scores.
Applicants must complete all components of the Common Application process. An official transcript and a letter of recommendation from a High School Classroom Teacher must be provided. Applicants must also attach a letter, approximately 500 words, in which s/he identifies a teacher who has had a positive influence on their life or has inspired within them a love of learning or a desire to achieve personal success. Applicants must explain how this teacher has impacted their education, personal goals and career aspirations.
